Breakfast at Antonio's: One of the Best Breakfast Spots in Tagaytay City

I’m doing a Tagaytay City Food Trip this month. Check out the installments so far: Bag of Beans (Charito Branch) | Farmer’s Table | Lime and Basil Thai Restaurant | LZM Restaurant

Many say that breakfast is the most important meal of the day. Even though I tend to skip it on a regular day (due to my sleeping habits and sometimes my diet), breakfast is my favorite meal especially when I’m traveling. There’s just something comforting with breakfast. Plus, I have to make sure I’m ready for a long day of exploring.

In Tagaytay, a staple breakfast spot (and one of the best!) is Breakfast at Antonio’s. From the same group behind Antonio’s and Balay Dako, Breakfast at Antonio’s serves all-day breakfast and bistro food.

Its interior is cozy, perfect for breakfast. You can have a view of the outdoors by the window side.

But if you want to see the Taal Lake and Volcano, you can go to their al fresco area. However, I think they only open it when there’s a lot of customers.

Let’s talk about the food we’ve tried so far, starting with their Bread Basket. I was disappointed because it was all sliced bread, which are good still. I thought it has pandesal (a popular Filipino bread) and croissant. The lesson? Don’t assume! LOL!

We also tried their Eggs Benedict with Pancakes. The pancakes are thick and fluffy, and its maple syrup has a burnt, caramel taste. The eggs benedict is also nice. The egg white is fluffy, the yolk is creamy and runny, and the hollandaise has a nice acidity.

My wife made me try their Corned Beef Hash. The corned beef patty is crisp and stringy, and the hash potatoes are likewise crisp. The dish is delicious and I now understand why it’s a bestseller.

For pasta, we ordered their Portobello Truffle Tagliatelle. We got the cream-based option (the other one is olive oil). It’s garlicky due to garlic slivers, and the whiff of truffle is amazing. The mushrooms are soft, juicy, and earthy.

On one of our visits to Tagaytay, we were supposed to eat steak at Antonio’s. However, it’s closed on Mondays. So we decided to eat at Breakfast at Antonio’s and try their Grilled Angus Prime Ribeye, which has 350g of ribeye steak, grilled corn, and wedge potatoes.

We had our steak medium rare. It’s juicy and tender, and has a nice marbling. We just find it a bit lacking in seasoning. However, the grilled corn, which is briny and spicy, and wedge potatoes, which is well seasoned (although some are undercooked), compensates for it. And if you want more flavor, they provide sauces and seasonings.

Yummy Ribeye!

We can’t leave Breakfast at Antonio’s without their housemade ice cream. We had their Dark Chocolate with Peanut Butter Cups, which is like eating Reese’s, and Roasted Strawberry, which has chunks of my favorite fruit.

Their ice cream is probably the creamiest I have ever had!

And before you leave, drop by their deli for pasalubong (souvenir).

With its comforting food and homey ambiance, Breakfast at Antonio’s is indeed one of the best breakfast spots in Tagaytay. Albeit on the pricier side, it should be on your where-to-eat list. I highly recommend Breakfast at Antonio’s to you!
