Cyma Greek Taverna (Boracay): Visiting the Origin of My Favorite Greek Restaurant in the Philippines

I’m doing a Boracay Food Trip 2023 series this month. Check out the installments so far: Percy Seafood | Sapphire (Seafood Buffet at Henann Crystal Sands Resort)

Up to this date of writing, I still haven’t found a better Greek restaurant here in the Philippines than Cyma Greek Taverna. I’ve been frequenting it already before I learned that it originated in Boracay. I bet that many of Cyma’s fans didn’t know about it as well. Anyway, we did a pilgrimage to the birthplace of my favorite Greek restaurant.

Cyma Greek Taverna Boracay

Cyma is a chain of Greek restaurants spread across Metro Manila. It was started in 2004 by Chef Robby Goco, who travelled to Greece to study its cuisine, and the man behind Green Pastures and Vigan City’s Calle Brewery (check my Calle Brewery review here and my Vigan City Food Trip here).

On our last day in our latest Boracay trip, we dropped by Cyma in Boracay, which is located in the inner alleys of D’Mall Boracay. It’s kind of hidden, which makes it tempting for customers to settle for other restaurants. But once you find it, I guarantee that you’re in for a treat.

We ordered our favorites Roka Salata, a Cyma original salad, and Moussaka, which is considered Greece’s national dish.

Roka Salata (Solo: PHP440; To Share: PHP620)

The Roka Salata has crisp greens, a crunch from the candied walnuts, and sharpness from the cheese. This will definitely put your appetite up!

Their Mousakka has a creamy and velvety bechamel. It’s also meaty and has a balanced seasoning. This is definitely the best version I have ever had in the Philippines!

Moussaka (PHP400)

For our main dish, we got the Cyma Lamb Chops, which are juicy and perfectly charred but could be more tender. It comes with Greek roasted potatoes, which are perfectly cooked.

Is our visit to Cyma Greek Taverna in its original Boracay branch worth it? Absolutely. The food, just like in Manila, are delicious. If you’re a big Cyma fan, like I am, then do a pilgrimage to its birthplace. I highly recommend Cyma Greek Taverna Boracay to you!
