Sapphire (Henann Crystal Sands Resort): Incredible Seafood Buffet and Now My Favorite Buffet in Boracay

On our trip to Boracay back in 2021, my wife and I tried the dinner buffet of Sea Breeze Cafe at Henann Regency Resort & Spa (read my review here). It is dubbed as the best buffet in the island. And with our wonderful experience there, it probably is!

So on our recent visit, we decided to try another Henann buffet and I think it topped our amazing experience with Sea Breeze Cafe. The buffet is the seafood buffet of Sapphire at Henann Crystal Sands Resort.

Sapphire features modern coastal cuisines from all over the world. It offers dinner buffet at 5:30PM-9:00PM daily. We paid P1150 net/person and I believe you can pay a bit more for unlimited drinks. Let me share our experience!

I think Sapphire has more variety than Sea Breeze Cafe. Check out a sample of their menu (I believe this changes daily):

Sapphire advertises itself as a seafood buffet and they really mean it. They have fresh crabs, mussels, and shrimp. Too bad I’m allergic to crustaceans!

But I got my money’s worth with the Tuna Sashimi, which is fresh!

They also have baked, fried, and grilled seafood. My favorites are the Grilled Tuna Panga (jaw), which is delicious and not fishy, and Grilled Squid, which is perfectly cooked and smoky. I also like the Deep Fried Squid, Scallop Skewer, and Scallop Adobo.

There’s also a Noodle Soup Station so I made my own.

The broth is piping hot and on the sweet side. The egg noodles are soft but the beef is tough. I just repaired it with calamansi, soy sauce, and chilies, and it’s good to go.

Of course, a Henann buffet won’t be complete without their signature Henann Steak. Along with the seafood and tuna sashimi, you can easily recover the damage with this.

It’s good to end a huge seafood buffet with yummy desserts. It’s a good thing that Sapphire doesn’t disappoint!

Some of my favorite desserts are the Chocolate Mousse (has a nice mousse and whipped cream though the chiffon is a bit dry), Choux au Craquelin Strawberry (has the perfect strawberry flavor), and Strawberry Roll (has a nice strawberry flavor and creamy filling). (Can you tell that I’m a strawberry lover? LOL.)

I also like the Biko Puti or white sticky rice cake (nicely soft and rightly sweet), Mango and Cream Doughnut (nicely chewy), and Puto Flan (has chewy puto or rice cake and the flan has a nice calamansi rind flavor)

Like Sea Breeze Cafe, you won’t run out of entertainment at Sapphire. There was a live acoustic set and during our visit, they were playing my favorite 70s-80s songs.

Unfortunately, there are no dancing chefs in Sapphire. But there is a fire dance towards the end of the buffet time. If I remember correctly, it lasted 20 minutes. While it’s entertaining, it can rob you of precious buffet time. I think it’s their strategy! LOL.

Before I end this article, let me just give you a couple of tips at Sapphire. First, get the desserts right away because it runs out very fast. Second, just take a peek at the fire dance because it can, as I mentioned, rob you of buffet time (unless you’re done eating, of course).

So yes, Sapphire is now my favorite buffet in Boracay. While there are dishes that are average and even disappointing (which is a minority), most of the dishes (especially the seafood and steak) would compensate for it all. I highly recommend Sapphire’s seafood buffet to you!
