Chan's Boracay: Comforting, Hawker-Inspired Food at Station X
I’m doing a Boracay Food Trip 2023 series this month. Check out the installments so far: Cha Cha’s Beach Cafe (Breakfast Buffet) | Cyma Greek Taverna | La Sirena by Cochi Loco | Los Indios Bravos | Percy Seafood | Sapphire at Henann Crystal Sands Resort (Seafood Buffet) | The Sunny Side Cafe
Whenever I have the opportunity to eat Singaporean hawker food, I always grab it. It’s not often that you come across hawker food here in the Philippines. So when I discovered Chan’s Boracay in Instagram, I knew I had to visit. And we did!
Located at Station X, a lifestyle hub with food spots, a cafe, and retail stores, Chan’s serves hawker-inspired food. They serve Singaporean classics such as fish ball soup, kaya (coconut-egg jam) toast, kopi (Singaporean traditional coffee) and teh tarik (pulled milk tea).
We tried most for of their Mains during our visit. We got a Mixed Bowl (has 2 kinds of meat) and got Scallion Chicken for the first meat. The chicken is on the plain side and I think it’s intentional. That’s because the scallions complement it with its flavor and saltiness. I love it!
We partnered the chicken with the Smoked Duck, which is smoky and ham-like.
We also tried their BBQ Pork Belly, which is fatty, melt-in-the-mouth, and rightly sweet. I just wished it’s more tender.
I can’t pass on Chan’s Toast, which is a staple Singaporean breakfast. They have four kinds of filling (Kaya, Pandan, Durian, and Salted Yema), and it comes with two soft-boiled eggs. Since we wanted to try all flavors, we got the Sampler set. The toast is buttery and rightly sweet. It’s a no-brainer that the durian one is my favorite!
And a toast wouldn’t be complete without a hot drink. I could’ve gotten their Kopi but I chose the Teh Tarik. It’s rightly sweet and I can still taste the tea, which is nice.
I love Siomai (pork dumpling) so we ordered a platter of it. It’s meaty and naturally sweet because of the carrots. It’s delicious and easily one of my favorites at Chan’s! I can easily finish it all!
We weren’t to able to try the Fish Tofu Soup because it’s out of stock during our visit. Now I found a reason to return to Chan’s!
I like that Chan’s Boracay calls its food “hawker-inspired”. Being well-travelled to Singapore, that tempered my expectations. Still, they serve delicious and comforting food. I don’t mind going back for their Scallion Chicken and Siomai (and hopefully, their Fish Tofu Soup). I recommend Chan’s Boracay to you.
