La Sirena by Cochi Loco: One of My Favorite Taco Spots in Manila is now in Boracay (PERMANENTLY CLOSED)

Editor’s Note: As of February 18, 2024, we noticed that La Sirena is no longer in operations.

I’m doing a Boracay Food Trip 2023 series this month. Check out the installments so far: Cha Cha’s Beach Cafe (Breakfast Buffet) | Cyma Greek Taverna | Los Indios Bravos | Percy Seafood | Sapphire at Henann Crystal Sands Resort (Seafood Buffet) | The Sunny Side Cafe

I’m probably one of the biggest fans of Cochi Loco Manila, a food stall serving authentic Mexican food in Salcedo Community Market and SM Aura (check my Cochi Loco Manila review here). I’ve tried most of their tacos, their Mole Poblano, their Dia De Los Muertos or Day of the Dead specials, and, most recently, their Chicharron (deep-fried pork belly) served with guacamole and tortillas.

So when I learned that it has opened two branches in Boracay, I knew I had to visit at least one of them. One branch is in Boracay Newcoast, the new development spearheaded by Megaworld. The other one is called La Sirena, which is by the Station 2 beachfront. For our first meal in our latest Boracay visit, we made sure that it’s from La Sirena!

La Sirena by Cochi Loco

La Sirena, by the looks of it, offers seafood items and cocktails, though they also serve a few non-seafood items, including Cochi Loco’s famous Birria Queso Tacos, which are available on weekends.

La Sirena’s Menu

We tried their items that I’m not allergic to or aren’t available in Manila. First item is the Taco Dorado. Literally “golden taco”, it’s a taco that uses deep-fried tortilla. La Sirena’s version has flavorful beef and creamy potatoes, enveloped with crisp taco shell and topped with a ton of fresh veggies. It’s delicious!

Another item is Taquitos or rolled tacos. It has juicy and tasty beef, and more or less the same flavor profile as the Taco Dorado, albeit slightly spicy.

Then we tried Ceviche Tostada. The fish is fresh and the veggies are crisp. But I think the lime is overpowering.

To wash the tacos down, we availed the 2+1 Cocktail promo. I forgot which ones we got. But I can definitely remember its kick! And it has something unnatural to its taste. Maybe it’s the flavoring used.

Cocktails

By the way, beside La Sirena is Jonah’s Fruit Shake. That’s another way to wash the tacos down.

Overall, La Sirena serves good Mexican food. I think it’s a great afternoon snack option by the beachside, perfect as you wait for the sunset. I highly recommend La Sirena by Cochi Loco to you!
