When my wife and I we’re planning our Bangkok itinerary, we made sure to include some off-the-beaten-path stops (at least to tourists like us). Our hours of research led us to discover theCOMMONS, a hip community space that brings together food, retails, and activity concepts. There are two locations as of this moment: Saladaeng and Thonglor. We went to the latter, as it is the first location, opened since 2015.
Thonglor (or Thong Lo) is an upscale and the hippest district in Bangkok. So it’s no surprise that theCOMMONS Thonglor has a hip and young vibe.
theCOMMONS has four levels: The Market (Fl. M), Village (Fl. 1), Play Yard (Fl. 2), and Top Yard (Fl. 3). Aside from bars and food establishments, the Village has a hair salon, a pet boutique, and a few retails stores. The Play Yard has spaces for families and fitness enthusiasts.
I like that theCOMMONS is promoting bringing your own water bottle. Additionally, you can help a community through the Common Compassion Initiative with a donation of any amount for every water refill.
Of course, we did not miss out on The Market, which is a food hall with stalls that offer Thai and International cuisines.
We went there on our last night in Thailand. At this point, we’ve already eaten a lot of Thai food. So we decided to take a break from it and try Western food. So here’s what we had:
Fettuccine Truffle Cream at Sourced
Sourced is grocery-slash-deli that serves salad, sandwiches, and pasta, among many others. We tried their Fettuccine Truffle Cream. Its pasta is perfectly al dente, covered with creamy sauce that has the right amount of truffle flavor.
Fowlmouth offers six spice levels, from Buttermilk to Death. I got the second level—Mild—because I don’t want to mess my tummy. LOL.
The chicken is tender, juicy, and rightly spicy, with a crunchy skin. It’s served sitting on a slice of bread, which absorbs the chicken’s juice and flavor, and with pickles.
Our meal came with one side dish so we got the Pimento Mac & Cheese. It’s cheesy and delightfully sticky!

Prototype #1 (Burger) at Bun Meat and Cheese
Bun Meat and Cheese is the brainchild of Taiki Tsubota, the Thai-Japanese chef behind Homeburg, the famous burger omakase meal in Bangkok.
They have a number of burger in their menu:
We tried the Prototype #1 burger, which is part of the Homeburg omakase. The patty is tasty and juicy, sandwiched between two soft buns. But what’s unique about it is the lemon syrup, which adds a nice bit of tanginess to the burger.
We also got a set with Tater Tots, since it’s rare in my country, if not non-existent. It’s a good pair to the burger.
We were supposed to have dessert at Guss Damn Good, an ice cream bar. But they were already closed by the time we’re done with our meal. So we just went to Poppa, an artisanal popcorn stall, and got chocolate popcorn. It’s not bad! Anyway…
We wished that we’ve visited theCOMMONS more than once, and at an earlier time so we could try more concepts there. So we’ll definitely visit it again. If you want an off-the-beaten place in Bangkok, a place to unwind with friends, or to try a wide variety of cuisines (or all of the above!), then visit theCOMMONS Thonglor. I highly recommend it to you!
