Som's Noodle House: The OG Thai Restaurant of Poblacion (Makati City)

I’ve worked in Poblacion (Makati City) for 5 years and have been living in the barangay since 2017. But I’ve never eaten at Som’s Noodle House even if my officemates said that its food is delicious. But last September, I finally went with my friends to celebrate my 33rd birthday therr!

Som’s Noodle House is the OG Thai restaurant in Poblacion. They’ve been around long before Khao Khai and Krapow MNL opened. It was started by Thai chef Parinya Pattamadilok and his Filipina wife Eva. Chef Parinya learned how to cook from his parents, who used to cook for the Thai royal family. He migrated to the Philippines in 1988 and worked for Sukhothai restaurant in SM Megamall.

When the said restaurant closed, the Pattamadiloks started a rolling store selling Thai noodle soup and soon added more Thai dishes in the menu. Because they’re gaining popularity, they eventually opened an airconditioned restaurant and at one point had a few branches in the Metro.

Som’s Noodle House shouldn’t be confused with Som’s Authentic Thai Food “Little Bangkok”, which has branches in Cubao and Makati at the moment. There is an interesting story about this, which you can read here.

Anyway, let’s talk about the food starting with the Catfish Salad. It has crisp catfish, crunchy peanuts, and sour mangoes.

We also got the
