What’s New in Legazpi Sunday Market? (March 2024 Update)
Legazpi Sunday Market is a weekend market located in a parking lot between Corinthian Plaza and Washington SyCip Park in Makati City’s Legazpi Village. I was able to visit it once or twice during the COVID-19 pandemic, when my weekend work was removed (read about my first here). But when the pandemic was lifted, my weekend work returned.
So when I recently filed a leave on a weekend, I thought of dropping by the market.
As usual, there are stalls selling meats, produce, and seafood.
There are still non-food stalls:
And there are now tables where visitors can eat their food (during the pandemic, we would eat our food at the nearby park):
WHAT’S NEW?
But I went there mainly for the new stalls (or at least new to me):
Adobados
Adobados is a stall that sells, as the saleslady explained, elevated versions of Adobo. (To the uninitiated, adobo is considered the national dish of the Philippines. It’s composed of a protein, typically chicken and pork, simmered traditionally in soy sauce and vinegar, though it varies per region and recipe.)
We tried the Tuna Adobado, which has a huge chunk of tuna covered in a creamy and tangy coconut-based stew. I like that there are garlic slivers in the stew.
The dish reminds me of Malaysia’s national dish, Nasi Lemak (check out my search for the best nasi lemak in Kuala Lumpur here), as it has coconut rice, cucumbers, and (salted) egg.

GINTO Creamery
GINTO Creamery is a stall that serves ice cream with Asian flavors. They have Vietnamese Coffee, Ube (purple yam) Halaya, and White Rabbit flavors. But since I’m missing Singapore, I got the Kaya (coconut custard spread) Toast one. It’s coconutty and has chewy kaya toast bits, I think.
WHAT’S STILL THERE?
Most of the stalls I’ve tried back in 2021. They are:
Evet Kofte
Maryland Chickan
Manong’s Fishball Sauce
The Real Moroccan Cuisine by The Moroccan Lady
Saffron Plates
