Del Union: Elyu’s El Union Coffee is Now in BGC, Taguig City!

El Union Coffee is possibly the most popular cafe in all of “Elyu” or La Union, a province in northern Philippines. Located in the municipality of San Juan, Elyu’s surftown, the cafe is visited by seasonal surfers and visiting tourists alike.

But if you’re from Manila, there’s no need to drive up north anymore because El Union Coffee opened its first branch in Metro Manila—Del Union.

Del Union

Literally “of the union”, Del Union has replaced another cafe (I believe it’s Starbucks) inside the famous bookstore chain Fully Booked.

It has a retro-brutalist interior, as exemplified with the use of washed pebbles in its counter.

They also have an area that resembles a study nook. Each nook has an electrical outlet, perfect for charging your cellphones and laptops.

Del Union offers coffee, desserts, and sandwiches.

The Desserts at Del Union

We tried their Dirty Orxata, which is also the bestselling Dirty Horchata of El Union but spelled a bit differently, reflective of the minor tweaks to the original drink. It’s creamy and has a nice cinnamon taste. Although I couldn’t taste the coffee, it’s still is an enjoyable drink!

We also got the Cold Chocolate and had the milk replaced with soymilk. Sadly, it’s like Swiss Miss mixed with Hershey’s Syrup. LOL.

We partnered our drinks with their Sapin-Sapin Cheesecake, which is inspired by the Filipino layered kakanin or rice cake.

I like the ube (purple yam) and cheese layers. But I think the cheesecake has gelatin because it doesn’t taste like it’s made primarily with cream cheese. Still, this dessert is enjoyable.

If you want to have El or Del Union at home, you can buy their beans in the store.

I still couldn’t make up my mind about El or Del Union coffee and food because I’ve only tried their Dirty Horchata and a few other items so far. So that gives me a reason to return. I’m excited to try their other coffee and desserts, as well as their sandwiches.

But one thing I’m really sure of—you can chill at Del Union. We easily spent a couple of hours hanging out there. So if you’re looking for a place to chill, then this spot if for you.
