Koobideh Kebabs: A New Kebab Spot in Bel-Air/Poblacion (Makati City)

Last week, a new Kebab spot opened in my neighborhood of Bel-Air/Poblacion (Makati City)Koobideh Kebabs.

Inside Koobideh Kebabs

Koobideh Kebabs is the latest dining concept of The Figaro Coffee Group, the company behind Angel’s Pizza, Taiwanese restaurant Tien Ma’s, and its namesake cafe chain Figaro. Its Makati branch is the first one.

There are several middle eastern restaurants in the area. But Koobideh Kebabs positions itself as the one that sells the most affordable Kebabs.

A Rice Meal with 2 Kebabs costs less than PHP250!

It may be affordable. But is it good? Here’s what I think of their Kebabs and their other food:

We started with an appetizer. And what better way to whet our appetites than with Hummus with Pita. The hummus is creamy and gritty. However, it lacks the chickpea flavor. It’s slightly sour probably due to lemon juice. Overall, it’s good but it can be better.

We tried both Chicken and Beef Chelo Kebabs. When it arrived our table, the aroma made me drool.

1 pc. Beef & 1 pc. Chicken with Rice (PHP239)

Both Kebabs are moist, juicy, and flavorful, with cumin as the most prominent spice. It’s also quite generous for its price. My only wish is that the other spices could still be tasted.

We also tried the Beef Kebab Burger. Its patty uses that same meat of the Beef Kebab so it’s also juicy and tasty. The veggies add crunch and the cheese some sharpness. I just find the buns on the dry side.

I upgraded our burger to a meal for PHP150 so we could taste Seasoned Curly Fries and the Guava Iced Tea. The fries are crisp and the iced tea is refreshing.

Left to Right: Seasoned Curly Fries (Ala Carte: PHP110) and Guava Iced Tea (Ala Carte: PHP110)

So how did I find the Kebabs and other items of Koobideh Kebabs? I think it’s good. It may not be the best versions I’ve tried, but it’s certainly the best in its price range. If you’re looking for affordable Middle Eastern Food, then I recommend Koobideh Kebabs to you.
