It seems that everywhere I go, artisanal bakeries are booming. Hong Kong is no exception. There are the likes of Bakehouse and Hashtag B, which have amassed a cult following for its egg tarts and pastries.
Since we have limited budget, time, and stomach space, we only tried one bakery on our trip, which is Vission Bakery. Founded by Winnie Pang of Cookie Vission (I’m not sure why there’s two S in the name), this artisanal bakery went viral because of its Matcha Mochi Danish. It should be easy to find because it’s just located along the famous Mid-Levels Escalator in Central district.

As expected, there was a queue when we visited. Thankfully, it was quick so we were able to get our pastries in no time.

Because we love pastries, we got a box of it!

Our Vission Goodies!
Of course, the litmus test of a bakery is its Croissant. Their version is crisp, flaky, and buttery. Therefore, Vission Bakery passed the test!

Because we love Banoffee Pie, we got their Banoffee Puff. It has lots of bananas and cream, and a super crisp pastry. But we wish that it has more toffee in it.

The Chewie Chocolate Chip Cookies are good. It passed the standards of my cookie-loving wife!

Since we’re in Hong Kong, we tried Vission’s Hong Kong-inspired pastries. First is the Portuguese Egg Tart Cookie (actually, this one is Macanese or Portuguese but who cares? LOL.), which is really what its name suggests. It’s made with a creamy and velvety custard enclosed in a soft cookie dough that has chunks of chocolate.

It’s really decadent and a gift to Portuguese egg tart lovers like me. This is easily my favorite in Vission Bakery!
Another Hong Kong-inspired pastry that they offer is the Milk Tea Danish, which has a topping and filling that really tastes like Hong Kong milk tea. There’s also a caramel brittle on top (I don’t know what it’s called) that adds sweetness and texture to the pastry.

We didn’t try their Matcha Mochi Danish because I wasn’t in the mood for it. I had to save our money for other food we really wanted to try! LOL.
Vission Bakery makes good pastries. They only use fresh ingredients and they stay away from preservatives (the staff will even tell you to consume it immediately). I’ll definitely return to try their other pastries, including the Matcha Mochi Danish. With that, I highly recommend Vission Bakery to you!
P.S. Beside Vission Bakery is its sister cake shop, Vission Nine. I want to try their cakes someday!
