Nalka Seafood Restaurant: The First “Order-All-You-Can-Ala-Carte” Seafood in Boracay

I’m doing a Boracay Food Trip 2023 series this month. Check out the installments so far: Blackfish Coffee Bar | Cafe Maruja | Cha Cha’s Beach Cafe (Breakfast Buffet) | Chan’s Boracay | Cyma Greek Taverna | La Sirena by Cochi Loco | Los Indios Bravos | Percy Seafood | Sapphire at Henann Crystal Sands Resort (Seafood Buffet) | The Sunny Side Cafe

When in Boracay, it’s almost impossible not to eat seafood. So when we were there, we tried to eat as much seafood as we can. We went to Percy Seafood, which is one of the top seafood restaurant in the island (see my review here), and to Sapphire, which is my favorite buffet in all of Boracay (see my review here).

Another seafood restaurant that we tried is Nalka Seafood Restaurant. Nalka, which is Aklan (the province where Boracay is) spelled in reverse, is the first to offer an order-all-you-can-ala-carte seafood in Boracay. Sadly, we didn’t try it because our group decided to just order ala carte. I hope to try it in our future visits.

Anyway, let me tell you about our experience, starting with the oysters (I think you should eat as many oysters as you can when you’re in Boracay). We tried the Rockefeller, which has gorgonzola, water spinach, and breadcrumbs. I like the hint of cheesiness and the crunch from the crumbs, which is nice contrast to the oyster. We also tried the Gratin, which is rightly cheesy.

Gratin (4pcs.: PHP260; 8pcs.: PHP500)

Then we got tuna Kinilaw (ceviche). It has nice chunks of fresh tuna, and is rightly acidic and slightly sweet. The chopped onions, bell peppers, and tortilla add crunch. I just wished it is spicier.

Kinilaw (PHP450)

For our last seafood dish, we had the Grilled Pulpo (octopus). While it’s tasty and smoky, it’s on the tough side. Then it has soft eggplant, onions that add crunch, and pickled radish the gives sweetness and tanginess.

Grilled Pulpo (PHP745)

If you’re not into seafood (but why?!), you can order non-seafood dishes in Nalka. We got the Crispy Pork Ribs which is tasty but I wished it’s more tender.

Overall, I’m pleased with my visit at Nalka Seafood Restaurant and I think their order-all-you-can-ala-carte has potential. I hope to try it when we return. I recommend Nalka to you.

Which of the dish above have you tried or would like to try? Have you tried Nalka’s order-all-you-can-ala-carte? How was your experience? Comment below!
