Tiong Bahru Bakery Philippines: The French Bakery Chain from Singapore is Now in Manila!
Tiong Bahru Bakery (TBB) is a bakery chain in Singapore. It’s named after Tiong Bahru, the oldest estate in the Lion City and now a hip neighborhood teeming with cafes and restaurants. TBB was founded back in 2012 and has expanded throughout the city. And thanks to the Jollibee Group, it’s now in the Philippines.
It inaugurated its first Philippine branch in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Taguig City (Metro Manila) back in January.

As you enter the bakery, you’ll be welcomed with an array of freshly baked goodies.

They also sell a few merchandise:

Of course, the first test of any French bakery is the quality of its Croissant. TBB version’s is flaky, buttery, and slightly sweet. I think TBB passed the test!

TBB also offers savory sandwiches using their croissants. We tried the Ham & Gruyere Croissant. Its ham is nicely cured and salty.

But I like the Brie & Roasted Mushroom Croissant better. The cheese has a nice funk and the mushrooms have a nice onion flavor. It’s packed with umami!

Finally, we tried their Pulled Pork Bun. The meat is sweet, tangy, and slightly spicy, while the cabbage adds some crunch.

TBB also serves coffee. Its beans are sustainably sourced and produced by Common Man Coffee Roasters, another Singaporean brand that has made its way to the Philippines because of the Jollibee Group.
I tried their Macchiato, which is strong and acidic, and has milk foam on it.

Because TBB is Singaporean, I had to try their TBB Teh Tarik (pulled milk tea). I was expecting it to be sweet. But TBB’s version has no condensed milk so it’s not sweet at all. I’m disappointed with it!

Tiong Bahru Bakery’s entry to the Philippine market is a testament that the culinary landscape here is evolving. I hope that more Singaporean (and global) brands will make its way to our shores soon.
Anyway, TBB bakes good pastries. I’m glad that the local franchise was able to maintain its quality, and I hope it stays that way. I highly recommend TBB Philippines to you!
