Roti Prata or Roti Canai is a flatbread of Indian origin and is popular in some Southeast Asian countries, especially Malaysia and Singapore. While it’s traditionally a breakfast food, it can be eaten at any time of the day.
One of the best (and many say it’s the best) roti prata stall in Singapore is Mr and Mrs Mohgan Super Crispy Roti Prata. Its founder—Somasundram Mohgan—has been making pratas since 1982. After working at different places, he finally opened the stall at its current location—Tin Yeang Restaurant—on October 2018. Unfortunately, Mr. Mohgan passed on back in 2022, and his wife—Saroja Morgan—continued the business.

Like any good hawker stall, there’s a queue. While I got to order quickly, my order took twenty minutes. Is it worth the wait?
Mrs Mohgan accepts the orders while her assistants prepares the pratas:
Pratas Being Prepared
I got two savory pratas and one sweet. For the savory, I tried the Egg Cheese Prata, which is crispy and flaky, as all pratas there are). I think they use processed cheese, which tastes perfect for prata.

I also tried the Coin Prata, which is prata shaped like a huge coin or, more accurately, a hockey puck. It’s slightly sweet and slightly salty.

I like that it’s small enough to be eaten with a bite or two so it’s very convenient. It’s my first time to encounter this kind of prata and I think it’s a work of art genius!
The savory prata comes with a curry, which is rich, flavorful, and spicy. It also has an okra and a potato.

For the sweet prata, I got the Banana Prata, which has an expectedly nice banana flavor.

I wish they offer a banana and Nutella prata, just like in Thailand.
So is Mr and Mrs Mohgan Super Crispy Roti Prata worth lining up for? Absolutely! Their prata are crispy and flaky, and the best I’ve ever had so far. It pairs well with a cup of kopi (local coffee) or teh (pulled milk tea). I highly recommend it to you!
