Parmigiano Ristorante Pizzeria: An Authentic Italian Restaurant at Newport Mall (Pasay City)

Molito Lifestyle Center, or simply Molito, is such a foodie paradise. Whenever I’m in this nice hangout spot in the south of the Metro, I usually go to Bungalow or Ramen Yushoken (read about Yushoken’s exclusives here). And whenever I walk in Molito, an Italian restaurant always catches my attention. It’s hard to miss it due to its location and its yellow-fonted signage. That restaurant is Parmigiano.

Parmigiano Ristorante Pizzeria is an Italian restaurant that has been in Molito for quite some time. Unfortunately, they had to close down the branch because their contract wasn’t renewed. I later found out that there’s another branch, the first one, which is at the Newport Mall in Newport World Resorts, Pasay City.

My wife and I, including college friends and their partners, went there last December and finally tried it. Let me share our experience with you.

We were given complimentary bread, which is typical for an Italian restaurant:

For antipasti (appetizer), we got deep-fried stuff, which can never go wrong. We got the Antipasti Friti, which is a combination of croquettes di pitate (potato croquettes), deep-fried rice balls, and mozzarella bites.

We also got Friturra di Calamari e Gamberi, which is are lightly-coated deep-fried squid rings and shrimp served with black garlic mayonnaise and marinara dips.

Of course, we had pasta, which is fresh and homemade. They cook some of it in a huge cheese wheel. One is Fusilli alla Gricia, which is rigatoni pasta with crunchy guanciale (an Italian cooked meat) and pecorino cheese. Its pasta is al dente, which I love, and it’s creamy and nicely cheesy.

To contrast the first pasta, we got a red one, which is Ragu Bolognese. I believe the pasta is spaghetti, which is also al dente. The sauce is meaty and tomatoey. This is one of my favorites in Parmigiano.

An Italian meal won’t be complete without pizza! We tried their Pepperoni e Burrata, since it has a whole burrata cheese in it. While the crust is soft and the tomato sauce is nice, we found the burrata dry. So it was underwhelming.

We also got a flatbread, Mortadella con Pistacchio. It has cheese and mortadella (an Italian cold cut), then drizzled with pistacchio cream sauce and topped with crushed pistacchio and stracciatela cheese.

There were four men in our group, so we had to feed ourselves with meat! LOL. We got the Gran Festa platter, which has beef tenderloin, lamb rack, and marinated chicken, and pork tenderloin, served with fries and mashed potatoes. While all the meats are juicy and tender, my favorite is the lamb, which is fatty and delicious.

We didn’t have dessert. But my wife and I returned at another time and tried their Tiramisu. The cream is nice and I like the coffee flavor. But the sponge is overly soggy for me. So it’s just okay.

While there are items that can be improved, Parmigiano Ristorante Pizzeria serves good Italian food overall. We were all satisfied with our Italian feast. So I highly recommend it to you.
