Mitsukoshi BGC: What’s Open So Far in the Country’s First Japanese Mall?

This article has been updated on February 24, 2023 to feature more establishments.

I don't usually go to establishments when it's newly opened (although there are a few exceptions, such as Shake Shack and Panda Express, where I queued for about two and three hours, respectively). But since my wife and I were making a visit to our favorite grocery store in Bonifacio Global City (BGC), Landers , we thought of checking out the newly-opened and the country's first Japanese mall across the street—Mitsukoshi BGC .

Mitsukoshi BGC

Mitsukoshi is a Japanese chain of department stores. It has branches throughout Japan and has expanded to East and Southeast Asia and the United States. The first Philippine branch opened on November 18, 2022.

Ben’s Cookies

Ben’s Cookies is an international cookie chain that originated from England. It now has four branches in Metro Manila, with the Mitsukoshi branch as the fourth one.

It's our first time to try it and we loved the buttery, decadent Chocolate Chip Cookie. We're excited to try their other cookies!

We've seen interesting premium European products in the store. It's a good gift idea if you have a budget to spare.

Look at those truffle products!

FULLY BOOKED AND BOOKS KINOKUNIYA

The local bookstore chain, Fully Booked, collaborated with the Japanese bookstore chain, Books Kinokuniya.

What caught my attention is their sandwich made of A5 Wagyu beef. We didn't eat there but it's definitely on my radar.

The Matcha Tokyo

The Matcha Tokyo is a Japanese brand that offers organic matcha green tea products. They have opened its first Philippines branch in Mitsukoshi BGC.

I like their minimalist design. Plus, they have charging ports.

The Matcha Tokyo’s Minimalist Design

Honestly, I didn’t like matcha because I tried one that tastes like grass. But with The Matcha Tokyo’s version, I became a convert. There’s no grassiness at all and I think it could be a good alternative to coffee.

Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory

The Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory, the Japanese chain famous for their cheese crackers, cheesecake, and soft serve, opened a branch in Mitsukoshi BGC and is offering the first and only Nama Doughnuts in the world. (I haven’t figured out why they call it Nama. Any leads would be appreciated so comment below.)

I tried their one of their variants, which has a pillowy dough and a velvety filling. And overall, it isn’t too sweet, which I like.

Mendokoro Ramenba moved its BGC branch to Mitsukoshi. But we’ll pay it a visit some other time. Anyway…

Mitsukoshi BGC is still on its soft opening stage and more stores will be opened. The country's first Japanese mall is promising and excited when it's fully opened. So stay tuned for more Mitsukoshi BGC articles in the future!
